WHO IS IN CONTROL?

BY MOLIEHI J. NTSENYI

Genesis 1:26,28 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

One of first and main responsibilities and instructions God gave to man was dominion. The sovereign Lord entrusted man with power and authority; He gave man charge over the affairs of earth. It is not surprising then that man loves to call the shots; be in control. It brings satisfaction and gratitude. This satisfaction comes with joy and makes the heart merry. Most if not all of us even dream of becoming the boss in the workplace- it brings excitement even just to imagine not having to answer to anybody. Even children can't wait to become adults, just so parents can't tell them what to do anymore!

All is well until absolute surrender takes place; Jesus Christ becomes Lord (Now He is in control). Nothing makes humanity more vulnerable and helpless than not being in control. Nobody wants their power to be stripped off. Worst of all, God wants us to *voluntarily* give Him the rein, willingly put Him on the throne of our lives. Most believers don't fully enjoy God and sonship for this very reason. It brings a feeling of helplessness to give God full control of our thoughts, desires, plans... and destiny. It brings a lot of uneasiness to the natural mind because Genesis 1 says I have the power. So if I surrender, where is my dominion Lord?

Thank God for The Holy Ghost; the Spirit of understanding. He helps us understand that the more we yield to God the more we become powerful. The more we hand over our will, the more He translates us into an image of Himself (As He is, so are we in this world, 1John4:17). When this transformation happens, it comes with tremendous enablement to really be in charge of things. God then crowns us with glory and honour (Psalm 8:5). As we continually cooperate we begin to understand that when we surrender to God and follow His lead the more we are in control. Much love, #surrender
