Before setting up any building, what an individual is likely to consider first is the foundation. Foundation, as defined by dictionary.com,

is the basis or groundwork of anything. Until one considers the foundation, the future of the entire building will easily collapse. Here are some facts about the foundation:
* The foundation determines the kind of building an individual seeks to erect.
* The foundation carries and supports the building.
* The foundation comes first before the actual building.
* Everything including the pillars, T.V, chairs, tables, the weight of the individuals etc depend on the foundation.
With this understanding, let’s get to the scriptures. In Genesis 1:27, it reveals that God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female, he created them. To set the human race rolling, God first created one person; Adam. In him, the male was the female. God never went back to create another human afresh rather He took a rib of Adam and made the woman. Adam is known as the founding father of all mankind. He’s the seed from which the entire human race originates. He’s our foundation and so is every male the foundation for every family he establishes.
Man as the foundation means that he’s the source that upholds everything that comes from it. A man begins the heritage for all his seed and gives it an identity. In Genesis 2:24, it reads, “…a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife…” The basic essence of that movement is that the man will assume full authority and responsibility for the new family that he has found. Usually, when someone establishes a foundation (say an NGO or any organization), the person often name it after him/herself. It is done to show a clear ownership. That’s one of the reasons behind the bearing the name of the man (husband).
Also, it isn’t an error for the father’s to give their daughter’s hand to their Son in law. It is a sign of transferring ownership. It’s an indication that the one basically responsible for the woman’s life is now the husband. If you are a male, then you are responsible for anything that comes out of you. Just as the foundation of a house bears full responsibility for every structure erected on it. That’s why the first person God queried was Adam, not Eve.
Being the foundation also means that the male has the ability to contain every challenge that the house (family) will experience. Remember that the foundation carries and support the entire weight of the building. Man’s main responsibility is to uphold and support the generation he brings forth.
Manhood is all about responsibility. Man must cultivate and see to the betterment of everything entrusted to his care. When this duty is discharged well, the man receives the praise and if the otherwise happens, the man is reprehended.
May the Almighty God Himself continue to strengthen all Men and to always give us the needed insight and wisdom in discharging well our various assigned responsibilities.
