I have been working in the surgery out patient / emergency department for the past 2 weeks. I have encountered a lot of people with different kinds of scenarios, diseases and illnesses.. The most common on are soft tissue injuries..
Of all the people that come in with this, I like to handle children, not that I like it when they are in pain or anything.. But, you know, I love kids and their pureness of heart..
Society has taught us to be strong even if we have reached our breaking point, it tells us big girls don't cry even when it's painful and it hurts.. It tells us men should be strong, they should not cry, they should show any sign of weakness..
Did you know that Jesus cried? John 11;35 did you know that Jesus expressed all His emotions? Matthew 26: 37&38.
I have had male clients with deep cuts and wounds that are very painful, especially if they have to be sutured. Most of them say "it's painful, but I can't cry, I am a man. I don't have to be weak."
Kids on they other hand express what they feel, they cry, tell you it's painful and that they are scared to go through it. They are not afraid to be vulnerable. This is called humility..
Don't get it twisted, am not saying express all you emotions and don't control them. Proverbs says only a fool does that. What I am saying is that be humble enough, be vulnerable enough to accept and deal with the situation, situation or season you are in. Cry, scream, complain, laugh, dance run around, kick a bottle with a friend.. Do whatever to express yourself,it brings healing to your soul.
Your vulnerability with people reflects your vulnerability with God. God expresses emotions. Don't be too strong for Him.
A good friend of mine told me that everyone has a breaking point. There's always a place one reaches where you can't take it, it's too much, so overwhelming.. It's okay to break down.. It's in the breaking that He builds, in the crashing that He makes new wine..
Be like a child.
About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
