Thirty four! Thirty four! Thirty four! Thirty four! The man passed by a wall fence and heard the number being shouted by a lot of voices behind that wall. He thought to himself, “why are they shouting that number?” he thought, maybe it was just a party and some people were just having some fun. Twenty nine! Twenty nine! Twenty nine! Was the number the heard the next day he walked by that wall fence, and this time around there was so much excitement in the voices.
The man now wanted to see what was going on behind that fence, his curiosity did not help either. As he walked he looked at the fence and saw a small hole in the wall, so he got close to see. Someone on the other side of the fence poked his eye with a stick and boy did it hurt! He complained to himself, why would someone do such a thing? Then immediately he heard the number changed from twenty nine to thirty! He realized, the people on the other side of the wall sit all day poking people’s eyes and they keep count, it’s fun for them. He further realized that, it was actually a mental asylum, the people on the other side of the wall fence are mental patients.
Wow! Isn’t that more like us? 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 11and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
Yes, I am talking about minding our own business. The Bible tells us that Christians shouldn’t meddle in other people’s business, but to worry about their own affairs. The Bible says stop being nosy. Don’t put your input on matters that don’t concern you. It only creates more problems. Many people want to know your business not to help, but just to know it and have something to gossip about. When your mind is set on Christ. You won’t have time to meddle in another person’s situations. Look at what proverbs says, Proverbs 26:17 Interfering in someone else’s argument is as foolish as yanking a dog’s ears.
I would urge people to check our innermost motive when we are in other people’s businesses. If the first intention is not to help, please! Mind your own business.
